Emergency Whistle – Communication and Tools Module
High-performance emergency whistle compliant with ISO 12402-8 for emergency sound signaling. Complements the whistle integrated into the Evakit bag’s sternum strap. Safety lanyard for wearing around the neck. Powerful sound audible over long distances to alert rescuers and signal one’s position.
Redundant Emergency Sound Signaling
This emergency whistle is part of Evakit’s Communication and Tools module (grey pouch) and constitutes essential redundant signaling equipment. It complements the whistle already integrated into the main bag’s sternum strap, thus offering double security for emergency sound signaling.
Compliance with ISO 12402-8 Standard:
International Certification: The ISO 12402-8 standard defines the requirements for signaling whistles used with individual life-saving equipment. This certification guarantees:
- Minimum Sound Power: At least 100 decibels at 1 meter distance
- Optimal Frequency: Between 1600 and 4000 Hz for maximum range
- Weather Resistance: Guaranteed operation even when wet
- Durability: Shock and corrosion resistance
- Reliability: Consistent performance in all conditions
Maritime Rescue Standards: This standard, used for sea rescue equipment, ensures effective signaling even in extreme conditions of wind, rain, or noisy environments.
Evakit Redundancy Principle:
Triple Signaling Security:
- Main Whistle: Integrated into the bag’s sternum strap, always accessible
- Secondary Whistle: In the grey module, for specific situations
- Sound Alarm: from your Evakit radio, in the same module (a long press on the flashlight button triggers a powerful emergency alarm)
- Enhanced Security: In case of loss or malfunction of the first
- Versatility of Use: Two people can signal simultaneously
Advantages of Redundancy:
- Absolute Reliability: Ensures you are never without signaling
- Equipment Sharing: Distribution among an evacuated group
- Differentiated Uses: Continuous and punctual signaling
- Psychological Security: Increased confidence in stressful situations
Technical Specifications:
Sound Performance:
- Power: >100 dB at 1 meter (ISO 12402-8 compliant)
- Range: Audible up to 1 km in open terrain
- Frequency: Optimized for human perception
- Penetration: Penetrates environmental noise
- Consistency: Performance maintained even in extreme cold
Robust Construction:
- Material: High-resistance, non-corrosive plastic
- Water Resistance: Functions even when temporarily submerged
- Resistance: Shocks, temperature variations, UV
- Ergonomics: Optimized shape for use with gloves
- Orange Color: High visibility for quick location
Strategic Use:
Distress Signaling:
- International Code: 3 short blasts repeated = distress signal
- Continuous Signaling: Alert rescuers to one’s position
- Group Communication: Coordination among dispersed evacuees
- Guidance: Direct rescuers to one’s exact location
Critical Use Situations:
- Partial Burial: Signal one’s position under debris
- Fog/Reduced Visibility: Sound localization when visibility is limited
- Night Evacuation: Signaling in total darkness
- Group Separation: Locate other dispersed members
- Call for Help: Alert distant search teams
Safety Lanyard:
Secure Carry:
- Adapted Length: Worn around the neck without discomfort
- Resistance: Reinforced, break-resistant lanyard
- Immediate Access: Instantly available in an emergency
- Freedom of Movement: Does not hinder movement
- Visibility: Orange color matching the whistle
Usage Protocols:
In an Emergency Situation:
- Distress Signal: 3 short blasts, pause, repeat
- Continuous Signaling: Regular blasts to maintain contact
- Energy Saving: Alternate with periods of silence to listen
- Coordination: Establish codes with the evacuated group
Complementarity within the Evakit System: This whistle integrates perfectly into the kit’s emergency communication strategy, alongside the crank radio and light sticks, creating a complete arsenal of sound and visual signaling.
